Re: own made fuel
We burn wood all winter. I fill the paper toilet tubes with dryer lint or shredded paper and then melt some old candles or crayons and spoon it over the tops. We use these to get a wood fire started and they work very well. But paper makes LOTS of ash, if you use mainly paper. I have one of those ne...

One thing is that you need some regular metal baking sheets to put the silicon pans on, otherwise they sometimes sag and spill. I use both, but I do find some of my silicon pans get a cooked on discoloration. I was reading recently that the danger from Teflon like stuff is not the nonstick coating, ...

Re: How do I keep a cool box cool for 4 days?
Colman here in the US makes a "five day cooler". The "trick" is extra insulation. So you could add more insulation to the one you have. I suggest adding mylar bubble wrap http://www.amazon.com/Reflectix-BP24050-24-Inch-50-Foot-Insulation/dp/B0009XCJA2 , like is used for transport...

Re: Eco parenting! Leading good life
Babies need so little. I was recently invited to two baby showers and frankly it just seemed like yet another way to push consumerism. I can even see having one for a first time Mom, but one of these was for a woman on her third girl child. She was "registered" at a local store, and you co...

New from Virginia, USA
Hi, I am new to the board, but not the lifestyle. I found it looking for a way to make macaroni noodles, sadly the poster never added a link to pictures of how to do it and I am not sure if I get it. But still, this is "my team" as my kids would say. We live on a small farm an hour or so f...

Hi, I am new to this board but not new to the lifestyle. May I suggest you buy a box of Instead? http://www.softcup.com/buy_instead/purchase_softcup_online.php I have been using these for years, and they are great. It looks like a diaphram, but feels more comfortable. They are inexpensive enough to ...
