Re: a living kitchen

Gert is laughing about this because he already knew my reaction - "Gert!!!! Get that stinking compost OUT of my kitchen Oh God the flies" The kitchen is an ongoing problem in an otherwise beautiful relationship .

Re: Surprise visitor

Gert and I went for an evening stroll arond our village yesterday evening and as we approached the post box we saw that it had been taped and had a notice on it. Grumbled about how there were no services at all left in rural areas, rotten old post office etc etc until we got there and read that &quo...

Re: What are you growing this year?

Hello Mrs Pelmet We too are self sufficient in most things through the summer months and make an effort to store as much as possible to use in the winter. I can't really get excited about gardening in the winter. Winter is for craft. Deep jealousy about the asparagus bed. If I'd got on...

Re: What are you growing this year?

Hello again, This is an interesting post. I like seeing what other people are growing. This year I will mainly be growing: veg - garlic, onions, shallots, potatoes, sweetcorn, runner beans, french beans, butternut squash, courgettes (millions of them that everybody will moan about eating) carrots, p...

Re: Too young to process?

Hi there. I read your post with interest because it is something that we have done with our son. I think that killing, preparing and eating a chicken together as a family is a fantastic opportunity - not only because of the "where does food come from" lesson for the littlies but also in te...

Re: What no greenhouse?

That's a very kind offer. Thank you.

Might it be fun to all bring a homemade/grown/produced gift to the meet so that everybody goes home with something - like a secret santa-ish?

What no greenhouse?

Gert and I have a really odd shaped garden that makes siting a greenhouse virtually impossible. It's also in a wind tunnel so the plastic B&Q ones just end up 2 miles down the road. Our windowsills are cold and quite dark so my problem every year is getting things like sweetcorn and cucumbers to...

Mrs Gert says "hello"

Hello everybody.

I am Mrs Gert married to Gert. I expect he talks nothing but chickens and sheep. I probably talk nothing but vegetables, jam and spinning. We need to get out more
