Re: Chicken thuggery

Thanks for those

In the absence of a rooster, we're letting the Thug out of the run and shutting her out whilst the youngsters grow a bit in size & confidence and see how it goes after a couple of weeks.

We've got a 4 bird Eglu and, as happens got down to a single chick (a hybrid Blue that had stopped laying 6 months ago) We decided to introduce 3 new girls (POLs) having had success doing this in the past. Small flock introductions

Still, I always thought a surplus of eggs was a Spring thing and was a bit surprised when we carried the surplus through all Winter. Seasonality is no bad thin...

One chicken not laying - any suggestions why?

I've had 3 hybrids for 18 months now. Last winter they went through with scarcely a dip in lay rate (I too was once young but that's a different story). This year, towards the end of October, one went into moult and stopped laying. Fair enough. But although her new feathers are growing, we've had no...

Re: T&M seeds

Too true - if you're like me and hate throwing seed away and so feel compelled to grow the same variety for years as a result of a big packet of seed, try moreveg. Sensible sized packets at a sensible price imho
