Re: Still Alive & Busier Than Ever

M.W., All the best with the move and remember the 2 P'd Patience and Perseverance. Being from the ROI myself but having lived in the UK for about half my 38 years I thought that it would be easier and cheaper to be either fully or partly self sufficient in the UK. Can someone please tell me what mak...

Re: Legislation concerning bar staff and drink driving

You took reasonable steps to prevent a crime which could easily have resulted in serious injury or loss of life. If you do it again with an arsey punter just call the police to inform them of what you did.
Ungrateful little turd springs to mind when describing the punter.

Re: Where to go?

I'd go to England. +1 If money was no object and my wife was happy to go, I would head down to the south east of England and get an excellent farm, I couldn't move over otherwise. Being Irish some people would think it strange that I say this but the countryside still has a lot to off...

Re: How many chickens?

Thanks again,

I am going to stick with the chickens and fruit trees, to much aggro building the 2 pens.
So 15 sq metres and 6 chickens just have to source the birds now and a house.

Cheers

Re: How many chickens?

Thanks again for the speedy replies. The area will now be approx 15 or 16 sq ltrs so will go for a max of 6 with the the mix you suggested Merlin and will leave the quails out of the equation for now. However if I had 3 sq meters for quail separately how many could I keep? Oldjerry a chicken tractor...

Re: How many chickens?

Many thanks for the replies folks all have given me something to think about. I was originally going to slab the ground Merlin to put a shed on it. I do have plenty of gravel that I could put down as I would like them to be able to scratch and pick. I could increase the area by about 4 sq metres to ...

How many chickens?

Evening folks, I have finally cleared some land at the back of my garage so it leaves me with approx 12 square metres if I leave some space for fruit trees next year. How many chickens could I keep comfortably and what other birds could I keep as well? They would be mainly for eggs with maybe the od...

Re: Argument for gun sports?

Also dear and boar left unmanaged can become widespread damaging crops, farmland eg fencing etc. which can have a negative impact on peoples livlihoods. They can also have an impact on local flora and fauna. In short there are times when they need to be culled. If their meat can be used that's a bon...

Evening Mrs F, There are 3 recipes in CJJ Berths book. I haven't made it yet but its on my list. I have made some of his other wines and they turned out fine. Re: frozen grapes into wine

Defrosted fruit particularly grapes will be easy pressed as the fleshy part of the fruit will be quite mushy due to the defrosting process, couldn't explain why or how though. Same with apples if you have them frozen.
If you don't have access to a press just freeze the apples then defrost them.

Re: Leprechauns, Fairies and other little people

Leprechauns, fairies etc, no one has ever presented a good argument for why they could not exist. Oh, go on then... Although I can't help but feel I'm having my chain yanked. It's not that I don't think they could exist, it's just that I haven't seen anything to convince me that they actuall...
