Re: We're on the news

The North Devon Journal published 2 stories about us today. One about our business: http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/Charcoal-charm-pair/story-19535535-detail/story.html#axzz2ZQ2ZUSBQ and one about Rackenford Primary School's forest school activities in our woods: http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/Pupils-cla...

Re: We're on the news

They've told us that it's going out on tonights news at 6pm. We're really hoping nothing newsworthy happens in the South West before 6pm

Re: We're on the news

We've just been told that they are not airing it thiss week due to a glut of news in the Westcountry. It is still available online though. Hopefully the delay will cause it to be up for longer.

Re: We're on the news

Interesting piece, well done. Not far from me there's a place where charcoal is made traditionally. They spend a couple of weeks building an enormous pyramid of wood and then fire it. Out of interest, what's the advantage of using charcoal for a BBQ rather than regular wood and what volume of charc...

We're on the news

We had ITV Westcountry News here this week filming a piece about charcoal production. They have put the video and an article on their website.

Re: 33p-50p per person Meals

We're having rabbit stew today:
Air rifle pellet costs a penny. Home grown garlic, a few potatoes, a leek, a couple of carrots, herbs from the garden.
Nettle soup as a starter
A bottle of homemade wine
That lot must work out at less than 50p per person.

Re: 24v House

Having lived 4 years in two caravans stuck together with 120w of solar panel, we dream of having 0.6kwh a day of electric. Previously when we lived in houses goodness only knows how much we used.

Not having a tv definitely helps. (not just with power consumption)

Re: 24v House

We're a bit far from the mains for grid-tie ti be practical and there is definitely something about a self contained system that makes you think about energy use. In a lot of situations grid-tie is the sensible option though.

0.6kwh per day is pretty good.

24v House

Until a couple of days ago we planned to make the electrics of our off grid house 12v (dc). There are some downsides compared with 240v (ac): Most people use 240v (ac) so there are more appliances available for 240v (ac) The amperage is higher so the cables have to be thicker (therefore more expensi...

Re: How do we get traffic to our facebook page?

Thanks for trying. Unfortunately the link just takes us back to our own page. We'll talk to some facebook savy friends and see if there is a way to work around this.

Re: How do we get traffic to our facebook page?

Look for similar sub groups on FB. The spoon carvers and green woodworkers are here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/GreenWoodWork/ Run it by Phillipe Steele (Admin) first though as we've had a few businesses trying to sell stuff on there and that is their only interest in posting. We have about 90...
