I am so looking forward to our holidays this year, now that little person is over 2 years old - he loved the beach last year, but this year!!! WOW

We normally caravan in this country - I've not been abroad for over 10 years and don't really see the need as the UK has so much to offer. We have our own caravan and tow with a Range Rover (gas converted!).

Anyone else on here caravanners?

Anyone have any suggestions where we can go this year (keep it clean, you lot!)?

We often go to the Forestry Commission woodlands - very calm and beautiful. I think we'll head north to Yorkshire this year and maybe a few days at Cannock Chase.... apart from that.... the thinking cap is still on.

We go camping in sulby its only about 15 miles from where we live (peel) but its great fun and the kids love it

we only have a tent but most of my friends that go have caravans and campers i have a really big tent with a good sized living space we went for the whole summer hols this year and even ended up with a friend giving us a telly for the rainy days and pluging it into there genny lol

We all love a bit of camping too. North Devon mainly but anywhere, even if it's for one night. The kids just love it! We go 'crop circling' which is nearby us (about 12 miles or so) and stay overnight near where the circles appear.

What's that all about, Shiney? I realise I'm probably a bit out of touch but was it ever discovered who made the crop circles? No I don't believe in UFOs!

From what I see on the TV, M3, it is still a raging debate. Some are definitley man made, some may appear to be related to ball lightening, and some..........who knows?

If you've ever stood in a crop circle, you'll be amazed at it's vastness and wonder how on earth (or space) anyone human could do some of them. I do agree there have been some done by humans, but I went to one of the largest a few years back and the complexity of it was awe inspiring.

MMM the circles appear overnight. There are people watching all the time in Wiltshire especially. I think the MOD keep a beady eye on stuff as well, secretly I think. There's a big interest in the circles and we meet people from all over the world who come to see them.

I am always finding new stuff in the west country and since I moved here I have decided that this is the place for me.

We have stonehenge, Bath, glastonbury, Bradford upon Avon, weston super ware and of course lots and lots of cider

I reckon they have spotter planes out there and theres's always loads of airtraffic at crop circle time of year. (not only the croppies in their machines looking for new formations)

The west country really is the best, we had a lovely couple of camping holidays down here (BC) before we moved here and became 'locals'.
There's loads to do- some things for free! climb the Tor at Glastonbury (the cost of a bus fare from the Town) really wears the kids out but worth it, 2 might be a bit small. Donkey Sancturary at Sidmouth (free, donations only) I really like Exmouth beach as there are lots of pools and rocks for kids to explore. My Mum and Dad run Campsites for the Caravan Club and they've run a couple down here and have enjoyed themselves. They're running one only a couple of miles away this summer- so local babysitters at last!

I think the west country is great too (my Mum lives in Somerset).

I know what a crop circle is, I just didn't know if they had been found to be man made or not (not having read anything much about them in recent years). Some of them are done these days on purpose for art, aren't they? Also these maize mazes seem to be a popular thing.
