We have an allotment!!!

well kind of..
er'indoors, rang the local council, who told us that there is a two year waiting list, but gave us the number for the bloke in charge..
the wife then rang him and he said there was a two year waiting list for a full plot., but we could have a half plot, as he has a couple empty and apparently nobody wants half plots!?!? we are gonna have a look at it tomorrow.
We already have our 8ft x 8ft veg patch (and greenhouse) planted out in the back garde, so i'm looking to get more knowledge than harvest from our first allotment.

I have not really had much to do with this part of the furum (Your local area and allotments). so I need to get reading.
any tips boys and girls?

Congrats we too are newbies, it is our first full year on the plot, finding it great at the moment, although looking back to November last year it has been hard work.

Congratulations! Just goes to show there's more around than the council necessarily publishes... I'm sure there are other underused or only half used plots.

well we have just been down the allotment and seen the bloke and the plot.
we are now officially allotment thingy people. (sure theres a label for it.)
The plot is full of weeds! not too well established, so won't take us too long to get it sorted. but we are off on holiday (monday) so i can't wait to come back and get stuck in.

Congratulations! You're now official "allotmenteers" or allotment thingy people, indeed.

I'm now in my third season of 'allotmenteering' and I'm addicted. I wish my garden were big enough to grow veg there, but on the other hand I've met some nice people through the allotment society (of course, Ive also met some not-so-nice people, but that's life) and I wouldn't want to miss that, I guess.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your allotment.

i'm still waiting for the paperwork and deposit to go thru on mine....blimen lottie officer decided to take leave then be sick whilst my form was in the 'to-do' file!

Ah the first year can be a slog getting things just so. I'm a year and two months in and am glad to have stuck out the first year and managed to get it all bottomed in the winter.
