Finally have a hen setting

Post: # 101090Post yugogypsy »

Hi Folks,

Well Mama Bantam has gone into setting mode so I popped a Rhode Island egg under her, she had been sitting on 6 of her own that Rick didn't take away (he won't disturb a hen on a nest! )

So for the next month I am going to be on egg duty and when the chicks hatch I'll let you know what they look like, Ameracauna X Rhode Island.

As soon as they get big enough I'll separate the roosters and fatten them up for the freezer.

Finally got a nice day here and its supposed to be nice for the rest of the week, so maybe Rick can get some more digging done on the garden beds and the big cedar stump.

Progress is slow, but we're getting there. Peas are up and some beans, hopefully as it gets warmer more things will sprout.

 Lois
