Has anyone else here made this? I've been reading up on it and it looks fairly easy, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips or interesting recipes for it?

I´ve got a really easy recipe that I´ve yet to get round to making. It´s basically fruit and honey, boil then spread on cling film to set.

I´ll post it if you´re interested, but I´m on the run right now!

I'd like to make these, but I had the dehydrated sort in mind. Secretly I'm really hankering after a dehydrator! I've seen drying methods that involve putting the oven on low and leaving the door open but that seems such a wanton waste of power that I just don't think I could bring myself to do it!

dehydrators are great. i have a very basic one and it was only about £25. you can make loads of stuff in them!

Im involve in making them on a semi proffesional basis as there is a company out there that sells them and they are 'quite' easy to do, the reason i say it like that is that only certian fruits work well and others have to be mixed together, the best base to use is apples but pears go well as well.
another problem is to much liquid in the puree before you pour it out, this means the leathers will dry too thin as the water evaporates but with trial and error it is perfectly possable to make them at home although I would always recomend a dehydrator to do it in as it is more efficent and reliable, if it takes to long to dry it can go mouldy.

Cool, I'll bear that in mind. I'm determined to have a dehydrator this year!
