We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.

Another australian......

Post: # 106695Post Mum_Greenwood »

Hello just joined,

What makes me self-sufficient-ish? I grow a lot of my own food. I live in suburbia, so I am not as self-sufficient as I would like to be. What I have to buy, I buy in bulk to cut down on spending and packaging. I re-cycle or re-use a lot of things. I can make a lot of things from scratch (mostly self taught as people tend to suffer from information constipation and won't share or request a hefty sum to impart knowledge). I make or repair furniture instead of buying new. I darn or sew. I bake and cook (rarer and rarer these days...some people would be lost without a microwave).

That's about it. Oh yes, I have 2 kids and live in a colder part of Victoria Australia.

MG

as people tend to suffer from information constipation
I like that phrase,

Oh yeah, welcome to the site.
People on here don't suffer from information constipation. (only the occasional bout of verbal diarrhoea)

Hiya MG - welcome to the Ishers!

I spent 8 wonderful months in Victoria, back in 84/85 (now I'm showing my age... ); that was near Timboon.
