Hello Selfsufficientish People
I feel like I've just found my spiritual home on the web by finding this very lovely site. Thank you to those who put it together and maintain it!
We (my hub posted the other day http://www.selfsufficientish.com/forum/ ... 17&t=10163) left London two years ago, to rent a house in rural Worcestershire with our teeny kids and started living way more simply.
Before our big downshift we were spending most of two good city salaries on a consumerist lifestyle we no longer wanted - so much of our existence was outsourced (kids raised by full-time nursery, house maintained by cleaner, food bought prepared from supermarket, take away or restaurant), huge sums were spent on brief weeks in foreign locations.
Thankfully we saw the light and now grow a lot of our own fruit and veg, cook everything from scratch using a monthly menu plan, and love living our own lives with no outside 'help'. UK holidays are enjoyed in Big Bertha, our 12 yr old touring caravan.
We did seriously consider home educating the children but the village school is delightful and they are thriving in reception there. Our newish baby daughter is enjoying the luxury of being 'attachment parented' - spends most days while I do housework being worn in a soft comfy sling, breastfed on demand and sleeps whenever she fancies.
Anyhoo. I've rambled on.

Hi!

Well done for taking the leap - it sounds a particularly huge leap for you and your family. I bet it was a bit scary at first
. I think the only thing you will regret is that you didn't do it sooner. Good luck. Enjoy!

Bienvenidos from another AP-er! How old is your littly? If you want any carrying recommendations I´ve done the lot (20months and counting!), Mrs Flibble is rather nifty with homemade versions too!
Interesting website you got there, I´ll be reading that more thoroughly later when I don´t have LO climbing all over me!
Seeing as i´m here, and seeing as you use cloth baby wipes.....have you considered replacing loo roll with cloth? I´m on a mission to convert the world

Re: n00b's missus
Hellooo, you seem to have a very similar life to me :) We did the spending-two-good-london-salaries-with-ease thing until dd1 arrived two years ago, and somehow I now find myself on an 8-acre farm in mid-Wales, stay at home mum to a 26 month old and a 13month old, both of whom cosleep and are very au fait with my collection of slings, and we're planning on home edd'ing. Your vegetable growing seems to be going better than mine though!!
It's a hugely different life to the one I thought I would have. But it's a good thing. I think. I'm still coming to terms with it all really!!
