dogs getting on allotments

ok i have a problem where my allotment is we have houses surrounding it,which is good in some respects.
BUT.the odd dog gets on and strools about and occassionally walks over our allotments where seeds are(cats do this too but eat the mice )
i have put a bit of fence up but they still get on via other peoples allotments,so when i start sowing seed how can i protect them i do not have cloches.cheap ideas please or free ones.
is there any chemical repeelent for dogs or organic equivlent. not having a dog i dont know how they work can you help thanks.

There are repellents available but I'm not sure whether they work.

A few years ago in our local paper they suggested a plastic water bottle half full of water would deter them.... walking down the road looking in gardens you would see loads of these in the gardens but I don't think it worked.

Fences are pretty much the only way, gunners... Keeping my 4 dogs off my veggie patch is nigh-on impossible too!

st spoke to someone i met out shopping who said bamboo canes four tin a square with string half way down with old foil pie dishes cut in half it acts as a bird scarer and the string and shiny refection and noise will bother them.
but i like nevs claymore mine idea put that under me spuds a dog come instant mash beats smash !!!!!

according to one of my books (marks and sparks trade secrets gardening by katherine lapworth), spray purfume or after shave on fence posts, have a pyracanthus (prickily) hedge or a pavlovian one, lob a sock full of pebbles next to the dog every time that they come near your alotment, it will associate the shock with your allotment and stop going.

thanks i will try the aftershave and perfume and i have a prickly bush i put by the fence post
