Improving the taste of cod liver oil, help please.

Post: # 114399Post LBR »

I take a spoonful of cod liver oil every morning because it's good for me. I find the taste anywhere from mildly unpleasant to revolting.

Someone suggested putting a little sea salt in it. Some days this helps, some days it doesn't.

Anyone know what could make it go down a little easier? (I don't drink alcohol.)

Get the capsules!
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

Apparently, a teaspoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of walnut oil (or a handful of walnuts) will do exactly the same thing as (and taste a whole load better than) cod liver oil - and the other advantage is that you can leave the cod stocks to recover.

Have thought about the capsules, but haven't found any of the same quality yet. Will pursue that, tho'. Can't eat nuts or have nut oils.

Meanwhile, if someone knows what would improve the taste of cod liver oil, I'd very much like to know.

Thanks!

Can it be mixed in a smoothie?

If you can't find capsules of the right quality, you could buy empty capsules and fill them yourself (I do that for the dragon's blood I take).
