Mark - seriously?! Do you mean you'll use the ginger beer plant to make the champagne? (Sorry: easily confused!)

Yes nemain, it makes lovely Elderflower Champagne, alcoholic soda water, rosehip champagne, lemonade, limeade, cherryade to name a few.

I think the only reason they stopped using this to make drinks is because its not commercially viable, can be difficult to control the pressure build up during secondary fermentation.

Its also said to be a pro biotic, a healthy drink.

Oh my goodness, this is even more exciting than I realized! I think I must be using the 'sludge' version at the moment - I'm really interested to see how different they look.

Ace. I'm going to hunt round for other recipes now...

If you're still offering I would like to have another crack at brewing up a batch of ginger beer, tried some a couple of years ago with champagne yeast from wilkos (alas I was a poor misguided student back then) and it ended up far too dry. Any hints and tips would also be greatly appreciated.

Hi, yes I still have loads of surplus ginger beer plant, by the litre, literally I have around six litres of the stuff. The more I brew the more it grows I just cant get rid of it, its silly.

Its a give away, I dont make any profit, I ask for either £1.coin or £2. coins depending if you want a small or big dollop of the jelly crystals, taped to a bit of card and a self addressed bubble envelope. If you want some drop me an e-mail and I'll send you my postal address.

If you want more and are happy to pay P&P then please do get in touch.

Brewing with GBP is very easy, enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

UK only because it doesn't like travelling abroad unless dried.

Thanks Mark

If I lived on your side of the water, I'd be posting you a check pronto. Sounds great. Nothing nicer than ginger beer.

Thanks for the GBP, a vey generous amount considering you've only charged for postage. Watching it takes me right back to my childhood in my grandmother's kitchen.

Hi all, I just wanted to say that the grand GBP givaway has been very popular and now down to my last litre or so, by the end of this week I will have given away all six litres surplus plant.

All future requests will have to go on a waiting list. You're welcome to request but be prepared to wait until I have more surplus available.

Hope everyone who took the GBP challenge happy brewing  :drunken:

Thanks Mark

Yay, it was a bit slow to take off, but a quick look at the brew before I left for work this morning suggests that it's coming along nicely, may give it another half week or so before I bottle up for secondary fermentation, looking forward to experimenting with the GBP over the summer though.
I will report back again when the important taste test occurs.
