Blimey Ina, it was 27 here but 26 for you guys must be the equivalent of 40 elsewhere!

Re: So...Very...Hot...
For the ladies out there I've made a wonderful discovery that makes high temperatures a lot more comfortable:
If you're of a plump disposition you'll find that the top of your legs rub together when you wear a skirt and that it can be very uncomfortable indeed.
To solve this I got a Simplicity patern for some pajamas. Using the cheepest, fairly fine cotton I made the trousers but cut the legs short, just above the knee. I made them hugely baggy as well. Dead easy to make.
I wear these shorts under skirts to stop the rubbing. They ride up a little but never too much and it's very much cooler then not wearing them despite the fact I've got an additional layer on.
Your new 'overpants' can even be worn as deliciously cool and airy 'underpants' in extreme weather. I wouldn't be without them and would recomend everyone give them a go.

I spent the day drinking mojitos! Wonderful stuff. And it got me out of work as somebody called in sick and because I'd been drinking I had the perfect reason not to cover the shift. Hooray!mrsflibble wrote:I'm melting!

QB I have that very problem but I buy thigh savers from evans; a bit annoying as I@m between sizes so I'm too big for one and too small for the other. I'm gonna try your tip!!!

Mrs. F.,
With your sewing skills you should be able to run them up in 30 minutes. I'm an odd size too so I made them with draw strings. One other tip if you're making them, cut the body part a tad short. That way they're hipsters and are low enough to not interfer with the waist of regular clothes.

Re: So...Very...Hot...
Much cooler here yesterday and we had RAIN! GLORIOUS RAIN! a whole 10mm which is a lot better than nothing! Would like another 20mm though to really wet the ground properly and help the trees which are suffering.
But oh what joy a night off from watering.

Re: So...Very...Hot...
we had rain last night, only a slight drizzle though. I've been watering the pants with the water form the paddling pool which needed emptying.
Went on a snail hunt this afternoon, found and killed loads. I also built a raised platform for the butternut to sit on(and lie across) as the slugs and snails are going to town on it. it's now heavily fortified with copper wire form the washing machine.
