if you do have blight - best thing is to cut the tops off the spuds - and remove (burn ideally)- if it hasn't got down to the tubers - the spuds should still be good. some people leave them be and harvest as needed - I prefer to dig them up.

re tomatoes - pick off effected leaves to slow down the progress... and pray for a change in weather. I had blight on my greenhosue toms lat year an deven thought heplants eventually went revolting, I picked green and ripened indoors and did not have a bad harvest. I owuld hang on as long as you can - but if its just one or two plants next to others that look fine.. its worth debating whether to remove the diseased ones to give the others a chance.

try not to spread it from one plant to another!

Are you absolutely sure it's blight? Many people's spuds seem to be having their natural die back early this year. Blight makes black patches on the leaves and if you look closely you can often see a white mould on the black bits. If they're just going brown then it could just be perfectly normal. If it is blight then I'd dig them up too as the spores can be washed through the soil in heavy rain and reach the tubers.
