Photos of things to come!

Post: # 119606Post JulieSherris »

Finally got around to putting the outdoor pics of our new place on photobucket!

I did put this on the links page, but then thought it was in the wrong place!

If you click the pic, it'll show the slideshow.

Enjoy!
Julie.

That looks huge! And all those wonderful trees... What are you going to do with all that?

Well, Ina....
We've divided the garden up into its sections - it's physically divided anyway.
Front right Garden - as is... it's a nice clear space with various plants going on - the hedge makes it private, although there's only 2 more houses down the road anyway!
Front left garden - Jim (the current owner) has already started digging out a hole, which he was intending to use for some sort of water feature.... my hubby will start from there & organise some sort of pond. There's huge eucalyptus trees at the side there too - great for winter remedies!
Back left garden - is the concrete slab... under here is the well where all the rainwater drains off to - the outside taps run from here too. Hubby says he might cover it in decking for a formal patio.....
Back garden... as is I think!
Back right garden....... probably where we will pop the chicken runs, so I can keep an eye on them - I don't like the thought of them being too near the forest & potential 'visitors'! :pale: The trampoline can be moved to the derelict garden methinks....
Bottom Garden with Hayshed - Probably the best area for a picket fence & raised veggie beds..... the hayshed will be utilised for a potting shed type area & also kept for washing too! Great for the wet weather!
Derelict cottage.... workshop, storage area, proper dog room with outside fenced secure area for the dogs when we're out or at night.
Derelict garden..... 2 greenhouses - eventually!
Stone outbuildings... need some repair, but do-able - great again for storage of peat, wood, coal, etc - maybe a goathouse?
Carthouse.... definitely great for a goathouse... or even a donkey!
2 peat bogs down the road..... for blueberry/cranberry bushes? Drained & for sheep? Keep some part of it for hand cutting peat turf for fuel in the open fire & the stanley range!
(There - what we're going to do with it all.....well, you DID ask!!)

Some of the trees will have to be sympathetically pruned - especially the taller ones that divide the back garden from the bottom back garden, as they are cutting out the light to the apple/pear & plum trees that are there.
We won't be going too mad though!
Front hedge - needs a good shear - private is nice, but so is light & sunshine!

And do you know, I know that garden inside out, after 4 visits to the house - but can I remember what colours are inside the house?? Nope!! And do I care? Nope!
All I know is that they have lived there with 2 kids for 9 years as it is - if it's been ok for them, it'll be fine for us!

oh, I can't wait - in 2 to 3 weeks time we'll finally be there! SO exciting!
Julie.

Inside is easy to change - outside is much more exciting! Well, no lack of ideas, I can see that. I'd love to have an outside area for washing to dry when it's raining... And with all those trees and your occasional pruning needs you should have enough firewood for years to come, too.

I'm sure you'll keep us updated with your progress!

I had a look at your piccies earlier and they are lovely - everything looks so lush and green and I love your derelict cottage! Here's wishing you tons of fun and pleasure when you finally get your hands on it and can start to turn it into your dream home and garden.

MMM, thank you - we're planning to repair the derelict somewhat - pop some doors & windows in too - there's a fireplace inside so hubby can work there in the winter & still be cosy! So all our rubbish can be used where not recycled!

We are planning to splosh some whitewash around & paint the old tools - maybe a bright red & hang them on the outside walls - it'll look quite rustic, & I can't see me using that plough for anything!

Ina - we went to a 'Home & garden exhibiton' a few weeks ago & had to giggle....
A guy there was selling 'weatherproof washing lines'..... it was actually a small shed roof, with a decorative border around the top on 4 legs, with 2 washing lines inside! 400 euros he was charging & he took a fair few orders too!

I think I'll keep the hayshed...

Obviously found a niche market... And some folks with too much money!

Thank you Russ... oh the planning will be fun - the hard work... will be fun too!

Hopefully, things will move pretty fast from now on - the sellers want to be in Cork by the 1st september - that's only 2 weeks!

Looks like I'll be starting the packing this week, then.....
