We finally got a milk man.

Post: # 106803Post Andy Hamilton »

I think I have finally reached that age where I get excited about sad things. I finally got a milkman from going to this site.

I will now have organic milk delivered in a glass bottle. Up to now we have had to travel across town to find non supermarket organic milk and so have mostly made do with the crap from the corner shop.

cool! we have to rely on asda for organic or the corner shop if my OH cant be bothered to go into town but we cant have a milkman as it would get stolen from outside our door :( even our recycling box has been known to go missing!

Weve just signed up for a milkman too!

Our deliveries start tomorrow,
the price is a little higher than the supermarket, but the principles are far easier to digest!

 Thanks Andy - We've been getting organic milk from supermarkets too but have to go into twon every week to buy it! Can't wait to sign up!

We even brough back some untreated milk from our trip down to Sussex last week but that's all gone now  it was lovely though! Thick head of cream on top (drooling) just like I remember from when I was a child (You know in the olden days lol)

I'd love to do this for OH & A but our milk use is quite up and down. I only use soya milk so we have to buy that at S@insburys which is where we pick up organic locally produced milk in plastic bottles which we then recycle. Or if we happen to be at the Organic Supermarket or various Farm shops then and need milk it is bought there. Often we are both away from home for a number of days (thank goodness for a local friend who feeds the pets!) so milk would just stand outside :(

I love getting our milk delivered - we pay 41p a pint, it hasn't gone up in the year that we have been getting it, when supermarket has.

We can't get organic, but it is local and in glass bottles (IMO, much better than plastic)

It is so civilised, getting up in the morning and your milk is waiting patiently at the front door... I only wish they did cream, eggs, etc too.
One less thing to go to the supermarket for  - even our local corner-shop is 2 miles away.

I had the same concerns as some of you here. We don't exactly live in a well to do area so I worried that it might get nicked.

I have got to know some of my neighbors pretty well so I would think they would keep an eye open for me. Also we use milk sporadically so I decided to stagger the order to 5 pints over 3 days. I am assuming that you can put a message in the bottle like my parents used to do if you change your mind. Yep prices are higher but considering it is £1.50 on the train to the other side of town where I would buy milk, it is worth paying the extra.

LOL... I tend to email mine if I change my mind :geek:

In days gone by we used to stick the money in one of the bottles for payment! I guess that's a no-no nowadays in some of the busier parts of the world.

We can get organic delivered, but it's then in plastic bottles... and I much prefer glass... so glass it is! Tastes so much better than the plastic bottled stuff!

They deliver in my area - but only cow milk - no-one seems to do goat milk in glass bottles :(

however on the up side I find that the local council will be recycling tetrapacks by next month - so as I've stored sufficient for use as plant pots I'm flattening them all in anticipation

Just placed my first order online for 3 pints of organic whole milk & a pack of organic cheese to be delivered next Tuesday (when we get back from Shambala festival!). If all goes well then I'll continue to place orders online

I've had milk delivered for about a year now. Not organic but they assured me it was british and that they paid a fair price to the farmer. It comes in glass bottles. I pay by putting a cheque in the bottle once a month and, yes, you can put a note in if you want to alter or cancel your order.

I pay over 50p a pint so it's quite pricey but it's still cheaper and loads more convenient than going to the supermarket.
