I am considering putting some channels or boomerang swales through my orchard, to slow down rain and hopefully retain some of it. We get some really heavy downpours that are hard and fast, and I am noticing some harsh erosion.
The orchard is high clay, and heavily compacted, as the ponies tend it.
I am unsure how deep they need to be and would be interested in chewing this over with anyone who has experience, or may have considered doing it.
...am also thinking about keeping them as natural as possible and would be interested in any tips re: natural vegetation for a subtropical/temperate area.
um...and one more thought...If using boomerang swales...how close do I put the bend to citrus? Do I work out from the drip line?
