poorly dog

Post: # 121562Post prison break fan »

Hi everyone, not sure what topic this plea comes under, not even sure that it is very ish, but it does reflect the way I try to live my life as gently as possible. My 12 year old Jack Russell has just been diagnosed with secondary cancer of the lymph nodes. This is not a sob story, I am being realistic about the outcome, but would like to try any alternative therapies there are.. Now comes the big but, I am very new to the internet, (everyone says google it) The only thing I have been able to find is that fish oil is very good, and that frontline flea spray is harmful. If anyone has any suggestions I would really welcome them. Many thanks pbf

I know you can use alternative therapies on dogs but I would think the easiest would be Bach Flower Remedies perhaps? You can use them on animals.

Nothing is going to treat the Cancer unfortunately but the remedies may be able to help with the side effects or stress.

Sorry to hear about your wee Dog, I know you weren't writing this as a sob story but it's always sad when an animal is sick or dying ((HUGS))

A strong immune system is really important with cancer. How about thinking about her feed. Most pet foods are made from complete rubbish so that wouldn't help, if you can afford it organic meat would be most natural for her, and some say carcasses that they can chew is really healthy with a bit of offal.

Would certainly cheer her up!!!

If you can't get that you could do minced meat with ground up egg shells for lot os calcium. My dog gets this and a bit of the above now and then with lots of veg from the allotment. She also get loads of 'bad' leftovers too which is confession of the day

There are a range of veterinary homeopathic remedies available too. This time last year our lovely old boy was in the final stages with a brain tumour. The worst symptom for him was fitting at the slightest stress (even 'nice' things such as OH getting home from work or being offered a treat) we gave him something which was supposed to help keep him calm. I'm not sure it helped as things became very bad very quickly, but then neither did the massive doses of steroids and barbiturates that he was getting from the vet either, but we were desperate enough to try anything. Best wishes to you, it's so awful when these things happen.

Thanks Bluemoon, I shall definitely be trying homeopathic remedies. We have a homeopathic vet quite near by. It is awful to lose them isn't it. pbf
