Hi from seaside Scotland!
Just wanted to say Hi! i have just joined - and could not work out how to post a message. Quite easy really. I live in a Scottish seaside town, large garden - potential to be quite self sufficient. Have gone freelance with arty projects after 25 years teaching. Looking forward to reading about the work of like - minded folk.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Hiya! best of luck with the garden! regarding the mares tail, it really is quite easy to control once it's down
oh.. and if you've not had much experience in gardens you might also find a good book from your local library (usually in the oversize section) from which you can take some notes from
Which reminds me.. i'll have to go to the library soon myself as I don't have the internet in bed

Hiya piper, and welcome to the Ishers!
Mares tail is a blimming nuisance... You'll have to keep on top of it for a while, after the first initial massive assault, so it doesn't come back.
(Our neighbours back home have it all over their garden - they ignored it for years, and have now been trying to fight it for years! Neither chemicals nor covering with black plastic for a year helped; but they can't be bothered to really keep at it with frequent weeding for a while.)

Sadly not a true piper1 - can fling out a tune or two on the tin whistle though ........ and could just about manage a chanter !
Hello to you too - where in Fife - roughly - I was born in Dundee. Not got the accent any more.
Garden is very soggy - I found a baby frog yesterday.... and we don't have a pond!

Ah - but you can play the better instrument I think. I took the name from Einstein's name for destiny - check out the 'How did you choose your name' blog.
I am in Ayrshire now - perhaps warmer, but definitely wetter than the east coast.
Wonder if I could start a paddy field...............?
