I have that book and it's the first thing that came to mind when I saw your namehedgewitch wrote:I was nicknamed hedgewitch by my friends WAY back when Rae Beth's book was first released and they named me as such because I am always grubbing about in hedgerows looking for things to make into lotions and potions.
I've shortened it on numerous other forums to just hedge...and on some forums where the name treehugger hasn't been taken then I choose that one. Treehugger's my favourite and also a nickname given me by my friends - bet ya can't guess why??!!

Down at the villiage pub, there are 5 of us named Andrew(can be confusing). So to differentiate,we are all known by our trade(carpets, computers, etc.) & pumps. And thats about as interesting as it gets!
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Our house is called the Moustoir as it is built on the site of a medieval monastery (lot of them about in Brittany) and I've been Mrs Moustoir since 2001 on a French forum...so to save confusing myself I used the same moniker here.

My real name is Isobelle - hence the Izzy bit. And my friend from New Zealand always called me Fizz which I really like. So I put the two together! This is usually my name in interwebby world

Re: Spinoff - why did you choose your username?
Because it's my middle name and it's unusual enough not to have been taken on most sites.
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

MMM is from the books of the same name which I read when I was a child.
I've only ever been one other name on a forum - Madame Moorhen who was a character who was created in a forum 'story' who lived at Chateau Moorhen; the name has stuck, even though the moorhens have long gone and I should be renamed Madame Coypu.

Milims I always wondered about your name!

The invisible piper was Einstein's name for fate or destiny - a great name from such a scientific man.
' We are all dancing to the tune of the invisible piper'
I adopted the name when I came across it - and have been using it ever since.
Good mane for a Scot too!
oops I meant name!

My real name is jerztey_56 and I live in Cardiff but I thought "Rod in Japan" was both easier to remember as a name, and more exotic-sounding.

Re: Spinoff - why did you choose your username?
Some years ago, about 2003, when we first moved to France, it was a requirement that all foreigners – even those from other EU countries – had to apply for something called a titre de sejour. This card was only granted to those who could demonstrate that they would not be any kind of burden on the French state.
This was really easy to obtain only for those coming to France with a job offer in hand or a retirement pension. We were trying to set up a business – for which we had the capital, courtesy of the insane gyrations of the UK property market in the mid 1990’s – but no income at the time, and we had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get the card.
We were on the point of having it issued to us when the French finally accepted that the titre was an unlawful requirement for EU citizens and dropped it.
Amongst some sections of the British ex-pat community this caused derision, and one lady opined on an internet forum that this change “would attract all kinds of unsuitable people to France who think that they are clever because they made a bit of money from an inflated property price. These riff raff will all be setting up grubby little gite businesses or pokey B&Bs and the French will regret ever allowing them in.”
And I thought – “Hey! That’s me!” Hence the moniker.

I should say that it's plural 'cos it covers Chris and me - especially as he's the one who found the site and set us up on it. I just kind of took over!!Millymollymandy wrote: Milims I always wondered about your name!

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
