Hello lovely people! I stumbled across this site a few times in my recent googling so thought I should stay and have a look around; now I don't want to leave, its great!

I've just started a container veggie garden (in a rented house with a landlord who likes GRAVEL) and have been using lots of advice from the site and forum, ta! I love cooking and making all sorts of things (why buy it when you can make it yourself!? ), dream of the day I can own some chickens, and generally would like to live the good-ish life.

So, it's nice to meet you all :flower:

Hi Fizzysister

What sort of plants are you growing in containers?

hello fizzy, your situation is exactly the same as mine - rented accomodation, terraced garden etc etc. I'm sure we'll have lots to talk about.

My garden is a lump of concreate with some gravel next to it. I have since found a spot that is about 1ft squared of real soil and I got pretty excited. - Sad huh.

I guess it is less down to the landlords and more to the previous tennents, most contracts have something in them about keep the garden in good order. Most people ignore this though, it is sad that many rented houses have no garden to speak of.

Anyway welcome to the forum fizzy, glad you finally popped in

Hi Fizzysister and welcome! I learnt to garden whilst in rented accomodation. Luckily I had some flower beds to play in although the first garden was tarmac!

Hi Fizzy,

Welcome along.
8)

What kind of containers are you using? I want chickens too. I nearly went for it and then stepped back by the thought of bird flu coming our way. I am gonna sit tight for a while.

Hi Fizzysister

I've been through the container garden stage, too - and like Shiney I've put my chicken plans on the back burner for now... But we'll all get there, I'm sure!

See you around
