Scottish Parliament moves on allotment shortage.

Post: # 128302Post transitionallotments »

The Scottish Government announced on 16/10/08 that "Unused public land could soon be made available to meet increased demand for allotments".

See the story on http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Release ... 0/16130431

Anyone like to write to their (English) MP's and ask why they don't do something similar?

Hurrah! I've been waiting over two years for South Lanarkshire council to sort me out with one (my friend in North Lanarkshire has just got one after a week!!!)....I have to wait 'for someone to die', apparently. We've seen some plots there that are horrendously overgrown - obviously some folk aren't able to manage them properly anymore but can hold onto them by paying up their subs every year, which doesn't seem fair...I know some friends in Birmingham who have an allotment, and they have been told that - whether or not they pay their subs - their allotment will be given to someone else if they let it 'go'; and it should be the same here, IMO. Or at least work on an allotment 'share scheme' whereby younger people (like me!) can help someone who can't manage anymore to benefit; sharing the space etc.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.
