are these safron milk caps

hi all. i found these today. im hoping that they are saffron milk caps.
which i found today in the glen. i only picked a few for pictures. but if there good to eat. il go back and pick more tomorrow. also any good cooking ideas for them

these are definitely not saffron milk caps.

(the milk has to be saffron-orange coloured).

dunno what they might be otherwise? maybe a false chanterelle.

hi guys. just wondering if anyone can identify these mushrooms. i ate them. mistakeing them as saffron milk caps. they had a very strong mushroom taste. real fruit of the woods flavour. i only ever got one reply i think. and just wondering if anyone can tell me what i ate :oops:

STOP EATING WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT!!!!

NEVER EVER, eat a mushroom or any other wild food for that matter unless you are 100% sure that you know what it is. Think, would I be sure of standing up in a room full of mushroom experts declaring what mushroom this is. Oh and put a top on, are you not getting cold up there in Scotland.

I am sure they are not but they are close to the Omphalotus (Jack-O-Lantern), a mushroom that glows in the dark. Be very careful as they could kill you.

False chanterelles aren't in the lactarius family (do I mean family?).

It _could_ be mild or tawny milk cap, but it's hard to say. The former is more common than the latter.

I guess that's what the Darwin Awards are for. There's more than one species that look more like a Saffron Milkcap than these which are also poisonous.
