Thanks Red,
Yes your recipe is very similar to what I did, except I used milk instead of cream (recipe I had called for both but just a little single cream and I only had milk) and I didn't blitz it all together in the food processor - I think that might have been my mistake, the texture wasn't quite right :? I might try it again sometime... for now it is frozen in slices in the freezer, so I can have it a bit at a time (I get overwhelmed with a full pie dish full - and OH isn't very adventurous, and doesn't eat a lot  )

I was going to make pumpkin pie, but opted to turn the pumpkin from J's carved pumpkin into soup - and took it along to Ina's to share with everyone else.

We ate well tonight... Ina's cheese and olive bread is out of this world.... Baldowrie had made a very scrummy bean casserole, and Ina had also made some scrummy pasta salad.

The alien cake went down well with the children, and the toffee apples... home made and using forks for handles instead of wooden sticks.. What a great idea that was Baldowrie!

We'll also be having it tomorrow and the day after

Tonight we're having it with the crust bread I made yesterday evening.

Tonight it is samosas from the farmers market - we we had them for lunch on Saturday too - They are flippin' gorgeous...

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a real indian cookery book so I can make my own please. Samosas and pakora are the most wonderful things.

Red, my pumpkin pie recipe is quite similar to yours. I add nutmeg, and sometimes use any mixture of allspice, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon. I use less cinnamon than the other spices.

I do the pastry-less version quite often, or heat the pumpkin pulp with the cream, sugar, and spices on the stove. I don't always want eggs.

Made a green-bean, bacon, and onion quiche for a friend. Fried the bacon till the fat was clear, before adding it to the quiche. Used froz. green beans, which I heated and drained. Added some dried onions, black pepper, and nutmeg. The cheese was pepper jack. The milk and eggs were same-day fresh from a local farmer. Using milk and eggs from this farmer makes everything taste yummy.

Also, made two peach custard pies with milk, eggs, and organic sugar. I used froz. peaches which I heated and drained, for the first pie. The second got a can (tin) of peaches, drained. I buy peaches which are sweetened with pear juice only. Have discovered that scalding the milk first for the pies is crucial. Otherwise, the custard gets tough.

Made bean salad with cooked red beans, (the small ones), green beans, and celery. Salt, pepper and mayo. You could use any legumes and add fresh or cooked veggies. I often use thawed ones from the freezer.

I have just made the most yummy pumpkin soup I usually find it too sweet but this is with a teaspoon of curry powder and perfect so have bagged up all the pumpkin ready for the freezer when I want to make more it's ready weighed.
900g diced pumpkin
1 large onion chopped
1 large potato chopped
1 bay leaf
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
1.5 pints of veg or chicken stock
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp curry powder med/mild
salt & pepper

Boil pumpkin in low water with bayleaf until nearly tender.
Sweat onion in oil until clear then add garlic and curry powder and stir briefly.
Then add to pumpkin with stock, potato and seasoning and simmer until well cooked, allow to cool and whizz up in blender serve with fresh baked bread..........
Grow it,make it ,eat it, drink it and sleep well!
