Gage advice please!

Post: # 131272Post Mal »

Hi all,

Looking for advice on getting a gage - I love greengages, but they're nearly impossible to find in shops/stalls/etc., so I want to put one on the allotment. The tree would be by itself (not that much room that I can have 2), so I think I need something that is self-fertile. I've looked around and there's no other plum trees on site, and no sloes nearby. I have 2 questions, hope you can help:

1) What (probably self fertile) variety do you recommend?
2) Does Pixy rootstock work or should I stick to St Julien?

Cheers!

Can't really help but the Ken Muir website might.
