The Open Farm Project

Do you know about an event that you want to talk about? Is there a campaign you have started, are involved in or want to start? Inspired by Marvin Gaye this is your place to tell the world what's going on.

The Open Farm Project

Post: # 131972Post Mirrie »

Hi all,

Its official- The open Farm Project has begun! I've got my land and we hope to open to the public next spring. The project is going to be a free attraction to teach children/teenagers where their food comes from, how to look after animals fairly, how to grow veg and be as self sufficient as possible.

I'm gathering volunteers to help with the work & fundraising, have got a great response from freecycle with people donating stuff to start us up, and we want to get as many children involved as we can.

Its a lot of work ahead of us but I'm totally excited and wanted to share my news!!

Best wishes for the project. I'm afraid i am a fair jaunt from you to be able to give any physical help, but keep us updated and any assistance in the future i can give i will. To give youngsters this kind of education is a great idea.

Excellent news. Well done. We had similar aspirations when we came here, only to find the local kids know more about fruit & veg than we do.
