I LOVE Christmas and try to make it a little more "Ishy" every year. I've been keeping an eye out for suitable prezzies in the charity shops all year, am making some edible goodies on Ishmas eve, and instead of a tree this year we have a twig! I went to our woodland and found a lovely bare branch that's beautifully twisted and gnarled. It's been put in a pot and hung with decorations made of cinnamon sticks and star anise etc. The rest of the house is decorated with various bits of greenery from the woodland, holly, ivy, yew etc and I think it looks far nicer than all that glitzy tat they sell in the shops, and it's free and biodegradable! I had hoped that for the first year ever I would be able to provide sprouts from my own garden for the Ishmas dinner but the slugs and caterpillars had other ideas! I will, however, be providing homemade parsnip wine on the big day so thats something to be proud of, and its good stuff even if I do say so myself!
Merry Ishmas to all and a Happy New Year!!
