Look on the bright side, fizzy - if you grow perennials like herbs and everlasting spinach you can build up your collection and take it with you when you move!

It is sad that there are so many paved/tarmac/gravel gardens, but you're right Andy that most tenants wouldn't touch them. I had one landlord at uni who let us do what we wanted with the garden though, grew some tree sized curly kale among other things, but it was hard work fighting off the rats... :pale:

Anyways, so far in my little garden I have a gooseberry bush, two raspberry canes and a blackcurrant bush, as well as some sad looking strwberries left by the previous tenant. Inside I'm starting off some basil, chives and lettuce (no sign of life in any as yet) and have the fastest growing garlic plant I've ever seen! I've got a HUGE pile of seeds to get going in the next few months. I'll let you know how it goes :flower:

Oh and almost forgot, I've got a kiwi plant I grew from the seed, doubt it will ever manage to fruit though!

I've been using those trays you get veggies in at the ..ehem... supermarket as seed trays, and have a motley collection of 'proper' plant pots both scrounged and bought for outside.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys

Unfortunately I can't remember the variety, but I'm sure they weren't supposed to be that big! (none were quite 2m, but some came close)

The sunflower comp sounds interesting, I like a good challenge :flower:
