Hello to all
Hello to all
'lo everyone! Great site, I've been popping in for a while and finally joined.
We're in Co Tipperary, have a few acres and have filled them with too many animals. We rent a small cottage and land on a mountain ( just a small one
) and keep goats, hens, ducks, geese and sheep amongst other hairies that have little self sufficient use but keep us company
We have a garden for ourselves and supply a few bits to a local organic shop. Still looking for that elusive money spinner so we can jack in the day jobs!

Top o' the mornin to ya!!
Nice to meet you - have never been to Ireland but would love to one day as my grandad came from Co Mayo.
We used to have ducks, geese and sheep when we lived in Herefordshire but now just have hens as our land is somewhat smaller here. Perhaps one day we can rent some more from the farmer and have more livestock again.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

I'm English originally but we've been here around 4 years. We were driven out of Oxfordshire by the cost of living. Ireland is a great place to have a stab at the self sufficiency thing, no council tax, water rates etc and lower rents make your fixed costs lower.
Not that it's all rosy but we love it here!
Thanks for the welcomes!

Hiya, and welcome!
I've got a couple of not very "useful" hairies, too... Two goats. They are more entertaining than TV, and certainly keep me on my toes, as to finding attractive feed and keeping the fence goat proof!
Do you have your own water supply? I'm used to not paying council tax - that doesn't exist in Germany, either. I think it's a very unfair tax, anyway, and think that paying higher income tax is a lot better (having usually been on a low income!).

Sorry, Upahill. Welcome to the site. I grow chilis, herbs and tomatoes mainly. This is my first attempt at trying to do it organically. The cayennes are sulking but the haberneros and jalepenos are coming along nicely.
Look forward to your posts.
But you do have church tax in Germany -what about us secular types?I'm used to not paying council tax - that doesn't exist in Germany, either.
