What does your home smell of?
Re: What does your home smell of?
No idea at the moment - rotten cold at the moment and can't smell, taste or hear very much!
I seem to be very sensitive to smells - called a plumber out because of the horrible drain smell in our kitchen (OH couldn't smell anything). He took the pipes apart and said he had never seen such clean pipes - that was all the bicarb and vinegar I was putting down them to get rid of the smell! He couldn't find a problem, but I haven't noticed the smell since either. Maybe it was all in my head...
I like the house to smell 'nice' - but my version of nice also means natural - nice cooking smells, fresh air, the occassional incense cone (Mothers Fragrances from greatergoods.co.uk are lovely), a dab of EO wiped on a warm radiator.

You know that fox poo is the doggy equivalent to Chanel No 5!!JulieSherris wrote:Our house usually smells of peat turfs... and Basset puppy.....
No matter how many times he's bathed, & has his ears cleaned, he always has this 'smell'.... the older Basset boy had his own smell as well, but after 7 years, I think we've gotten used to it!
Bassets also tend to have smelly feet.......
The worse smells are the fox-poo necks & backs tho....![]()
And the little spaniel now he's old, does incredibly loud botty burps whenever he coughs.... like an old steptoe dog!![]()
My home smells... like home!

Mrs Moustoir, I don't object to them rolling in it.... I just object to them wanting to be back in the house, or near to me after they have...Mrs Moustoir wrote:You know that fox poo is the doggy equivalent to Chanel No 5!!

Roast chicken which my OH is cooking! Trouble is I think my laundry is going to smell of it too as I've got it close to the wood burner to dry.

At the moment it smells of chicken guts as we have killed, plucked and prepared our ten meat hens this afternoon. I ache like hell and am knackered.

At the moment, Sea Breeze 'Barky Sticks'
What are Barky Sticks? Well, they are joss sticks / incense ticks but if I light one anywhere that Squeaky (my Cockatiel) can see she starts barking at them like a dog and won't stop until they have finished. Hence, we now all call them Barky Sticks!
Yes I know they're not supposed to be around birds, they're in another room with the door closed (the barky stick that is)

Roast chicken Sunday dinner, bread, cheese scones and flap jacks! I've been a busy girl today!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Re: What does your home smell of?
Tarragon (making fish pie and I always have to be careful not to put too much in so I have it in a dish and sprinkle in a bit at a time instead of just shaking the pot in)
Oaky smoke ( it's cold so we lit the fire early today. It's windy outside and smoke came swirling back inside with me when I went out to feed the birds)
Hot croissants (we don't normally buy them as the nearest bakery is 10 miles away but I found a pack of "bake it yourself" ones yesterday - delicious.
