Hi everybody - newbie alert

Post: # 139283Post sheena »

Hi everybody,
Just a quick hello to introduce myself to your great site.
I live in North Wales with my Husband and teenagers and during the back end of 2007 we downsized just in time to avoid the credit crunch crippling us.
So far we have managed to outride the storm mainly by lurking on forums like these, so I guess that now is the time for me to join in properly

We are into growing our own fruit, veg and herbs in the small walled garden which we now have (all completely organic)and have even managed to become quite proficient with our jam, pickles and chutney attempts :thumbleft:
We are regular members of our local freecycle groups and don't buy anything that we can make or grow ourselves.

My husband is having a go at guerilla gardening this year and is already marking out sites on the town map.

Hello and welcome.

It took me a while to really appreciate guerrilla gardening as I have been somewhat concerned with people without plant knowledge planting invasive species. However, there are a few spots in Bristol that have been guerilla gardened and they have made a massive difference. One place in particular has gone from somewhere that you really don't want to go to a place where buskers congregate and the whole mood seems to have lifted. Done right guerilla gardening is an amazing thing, just make sure he plants the right plants. Might I suggest some perennials too so that the area can be enjoyed by generations?

Welcome to ISH, I love guerilla gardening. :flower:

Years ago a gang of us planted some trees in a London street. When one was vandelised the council replaced it, thinking it was one of theirs! Yay!

I love the idea of guerilla gardening & would love to do it myself but I don't think I'd have the guts to do it

Aaahhh... guerilla gardening.... I'm 'sort' of going to do that this year... well, I'm going to pop some pretties in the bank opposite our house to compliment the plants that we'll have on the verge.... not many peeps will see it though, but I will!!

Hello!!
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden
