Re: Ladies' handbags
i do have a handbag, with all my so-called "essential" stuff in it, but i rarely remember to take it anywhere with me. the contents are usually a clue to when the last time i used it was - judging by looking in it now that must have been last weekend.
passport
purse
lip balm
leaflet from a hotel in porto (where we had to stay cos car broke down)
directions to architectural salvage place in porto (where we never got to cos car broke down)
pure portugal business cards
notepad
screwed-up queue ticket from the tax office
two pens
van keys (that's where they got to!)
toothpick from a restaurant
no grit (!) but a fair amount of fluff, dirt, and bits of tobacco (i gave up 2.5 months ago)

Re: Ladies' handbags
I gave up having my owm bag after I had DD1 but have sequested the front pockets for all my bits and pieces. Okay here goes
Mummy bit: nappies, wraps, fleece liners, wetbag, bumwipes,
spray botttle with water and lavender oil (for a beautious bottie!)
bib
spoon
ricecakes
spare DD1 knickers
spare DD2 clothes
booties in a back pocket that I didn't know I had! They certainly don't fit.
me bit
purse, with receipts, money and cards,
mobile (in a little sock so I don't knacker it like the last one I was given)
diary
pen
keys
crochet hook and yarn
notebook
a lead for connecting my mobile to my computer (why?
)
and instead of Milims grit, I appear to have the food version, I think that if I tipped the bag out next to the village duck pond - it would keep them going til easter!
Now I can't understand why I don't find crumbs in DD2's nappy everytime I change it?

Re: Ladies' handbags
I feel quite minimal, compared to some of what I've been reading!
Mine contains:
purse
umbrella
epi-pen
hairbrush
pen
When I go out, my housekeys and mobile go in there too.
That's it.

Re: Ladies' handbags
I feel quite minimal as well.... although I think most of the useful essentials (rubbish) are stashed in the car....
My contents....
Lip balm
Pale lipstick
Hairbrush (must give it a clean)
Tissue pack (empty)
Tissue pack (1 tissue in)
Purse (bulging - with receipts going back to last June!)
47 cents in mixed coins....
Glasses case (empty)
Gloves
Car Keys
And when I go out, my mobile & sometimes the camera....
The car however, is a totally different story.... WHY do I have a folder full of 'Golden Hands' magazines in the boot??
Must clean it out.... one day....

Carrying excess stuff in your car uses more fuel...
But I drive around with ten stone of greyhound in mine

Re: Ladies' handbags
I once lost a hammer drill for a week and eventually found it in my handbag
That was a wake-up call and I have cut down considerably since then. But I still don't have the two weeks it would take to list out the contents of mine.
So just think "kitchen sink" or rather "whatever power tool I was last using" and you'll get the idea.

Any room for SPAM In that handbag???? You always know there's something suspect when a 2 year old thread gets resurrected for no particular reason......

Re: Ladies' handbags
Now during winter I try to be ok with just my jacket, but it's a huuuge fluffy jacket that contains:
Passport
Wallet
3 pens
Bunch of papers and receipts
Paper napkins, tissuepaper, toiletpaper, most of them used (yuck - but I always have a cold so not surprising)
Two chapsticks
Keys
My bag, which I use when going to work contains at the moment:
More pens
Drawing pad
Painkillerpills
Sunglasses (huh? haven't seen sun since november)
Dark chocolate
Jar with herbal tea packets
USB-stick
Tiny handlotion
Allergytablets
Tiny handlotion #2
Fork
I see nothing redundant... except for little bits and pieces of paper :P.
