New person and new group in Leicestershire!

Post: # 13840Post ChukkieLou »

hi everyone
I found this web site this morning whilst playing around at work-as you do.
I signed up immediately and orderd my first T Shirt!
I live in Leicestershire in a little village callled Stanton Under Bardon which is just off J22 of the M1.
My venture into S.S has only really just begun. Last year I started making jams and pickles having been a keen cook for years. I then grew a few veggies in my garden- along came two chickens and ate all said veggies! Along came another three chickens and a cockeral so it was time to get myself an allotment. there were a few available but had not been cultivated for years so I am still digging but have resorted to buying a flame gun.............
I looked for a group in my area, to join and meet like minded people but guess what-there wasn't one. So I have set my own group up, with my mother in law ( she's only a few years older than me as I married a 'Toy Boy') for anyone interested in all aspects of S.S. Especially those people who have perhaps not started on the road yet or, like me, have but aspire to greater things. www.theleicestershiregoodlifegroup.co.uk

Hiya ChukkieLou, and welcome to the site!
We'll be looking to you for recipes... There's some more jam and pickles makers here. And great that you are spreading the word by buying a t-shirt (and surely wearing it in future!).
I'm still at the "growing vegetables" stage. Hens will, hopefully, come along eventually.

Welcome ChukkieLou. I think I know said junction J22 - isn't that the one you have to be going in the right direction or you can't use it? Looking forward to reading your contributions and hearing about progress with your group. Sue

what a wonderful idea! The whole neighbourhood thinks I'm off my trolley, but I can't be the only SS enthusiast in SW Dorset so maybe I'll try to start one. There's my "dig buddies" for a start. I'll order a T-shirt!

Anyway, welcome and stick around!

If you decide to set up a group I will offer all the advise I can. I set this one up because I coudn't find a group near to me and felt sure there would be other people like me somewhere in the National Forest area.
Will keep you all posted as to how it goes tonight.....
