Hi folks Im looking to get a hop plant for the lottie and was after some advice on the best ways to grow the things. I was planning on using a cane wigwam for the plant to train itself to, would this work? I hear the plants can grow like wildfire and may be too much for a few canes. Any ideas would be ace

How to grow Hop plants
the ever growing luvpie household currently contains, 4 boys, 4 chickens, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 fish, an empty tropical fish tank waiting new arrivals, now are we daft to look at our broody hen thinking, if we got some fertilised eggs........

Re: How to grow Hop plants
Confirmed. they grow like buggery. from one small piece of root. to kill you have to spray or dig out ALL the roots; many many feet of them.
That said ours doesn't spread too much - grows in the same place each summer and dies off over winter.
We grow it up the side of a deck - it is a perennial so think carefully, that said it is useful in herbalism and for making beer. I also rather like a tblspn of dried hop's added to my green tea to help me sleep, that said i love the bitter taste.
hope my ramble helped!
