Chopstick Crochet!

Post: # 146645Post bluensm »

I was off work the other day cos I got knocked off my bike by a car on the way to work :angryfire: (luckily only big bruises and nothing more serious). Not very nice though and obviously I got sent home from work.

And I was bored and needed some distraction.... so I thought I'd follow Mrs F's example and learn to crochet! Only problem was I didn't have a crochet hook. So I searched on the internet and found that someone else had made one from a chopstick. Found a chopstick and retreated to the sofa with my feet up (and icepacks on legs..!) and sanding away on the chopstick with sandpaper and managed to make one  . It's not amazing design but it kept me amused for a few hours trying to learn to crochet as well (finally managed it on the third attempt!).

I'm still trying to figure out how to upload the photo I took (it's too big) but I'll have a go again once I've had my dinner.

I still think knitting is easier but maybe I'll change my mind after a bit more crochet!

Ok, after reading the thread about how to add an image I think I figured it out! Here's a photo of the chopstick crochet hook along with the other chopstick and my first attempt at crochet :flower:

Both chopstick hook & crochet are VERY impressive!

that is un-fricking-believable. i have only seen one other person use a chopstick crochet hook and she's japanese. your crochet is fab!!

i have no chopsticks, but i do have two chinese shops in basildon selling them for pennies so i might go and get some for that "i didn't just make that jumper, i made the hook too" sense of satisfaction!!

good on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
