Mushrooooooms

Post: # 148937Post bonniethomas06 »

Hi,

I have just bought an 'Unwins' mushroom kit - does anyone have any experience of this that they could share?

I have never done this before - was keen to try the dowels that you slot in to holes in logs, but have been put off as I have heard so many bad reviews :study: - plus I don't have any deciduous logs the right size and age.

It is a polystyrene box with cardboard lid. Am aiming towards producing my own full english breakfast one day - so far will have (hopefully!) potatoes for hash browns, tomatoes, eggs and mushrooms - a bit stuck for the bacon but that is my next project one day!

Hi There,
We have just finished with one of these types and it was the only one I ever had any luck with, not huge amount of luck though.
I found they must be sprayed several times a day (perhaps my positioning was too warm)
Anyway we had some lovely small button ones in the first round then a fewer amount finally down to one huge mushroom.
So they can work also need to be very careful about how you cut the lid we got nothing untill OH pointed out it wasn't quite right and then loads of diddy ones.
So Best of luck and let us know how youget on

I have only tried once with a similar kit - it wasn't Unwins though. It was a complete failure for me, but I don't know if I just didn't spray enough or keep in a warm enough place. I would be interested to see how you get on.
