Yoo Hoo from California!

Post: # 149117Post DeneciePie »

I just found this site and am working my way through the articles and forums as quickly as I can. I have brewed beer, not too recently but I hope to try it again soon. We have just returned from eight years floating around on our small sailboat and are setting up "farm" on a lot in a small central valley town. We just completed four raised beds for veggies and planted some berries, Rhubarb, cherries, artichokes , figs and apricots. We replaced our front lawn with dwarf citrus trees and an olive tree. More plantings to come, but its a start!

welcome in  and what a good idea for your front lawn! Grass without a grazer (or being a play-space) is such a waste of space and water.

We spent a year on the West coast of Mexico and the remainder on the East coast of the US, largely Florida Keys and trips to the Bahamas. On an ISH note, we generated all our own power, mostly solar panels, supplemented by the occasional use of a small gas generator, and 'made' our own water with a reverse osmosis unit. Finally the lure of gardening grew too strong, there are only so many potted plants you can keep on a small boat and still sail!!
