.....so I read ' The New Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency ' by John Seymour as I had been advised that it was THE bible on s/sufficiency
.....so I got very despondent and a bit annoyed with the author, especially when it came to instructions on gutting a pig/changing your roof from tiles to straw (in a weekend)/getting rid of all those ' silly ' (his words) flowers in the garden and converting the entire garden to veg
.....so then, I was in Borders bookshop and I saw this rather large green book called ' The Self-Sufficientish Bible ' and I particularly liked the ' -ish ' bit as I can be a bit 'ish' at times......
.....so I started reading it and, like wow, it was aimed at people like me who work for a living (boo, hiss...) and try their best to be green and self-sufficient whilst having an occasionally hectic week but who like growing things (sometimes unsuccessfully) but who never give up
.....so I was skint and couldn't afford it (even though it seemed like it was waiting just for me...)
.....so recently it was my 50th birthday (thank you very much....)
.....so I asked my dear Lady Wife for a copy for my birthday
.....so I have now reached page 151 and I have started reading it on the loo/at work/in bed/whilst watching 'Desperate Housewives'/at the meal table (oops, sorry...) and I feel that I have stumbled across some sort of revelation from people who understand my life and what I want to do and how I want to live it.......
so THANK YOU !
errrr...............that's it
