Hello from sunny sheffield

Post: # 154592Post Muscroj »

Hi there,

I'm Jo, mum to 2 small boys aged 3 & 18 months. IN a former life, pre children, I used to run a little gardening business & we moved house last year to a small house with a fantastic garden. We inherited a large wooden greenhouse when we moved & so this year I'm having my first real bash at veggie growing, we've made a lovely wheel shaped veggie plot & are growing peas, beans, carrots, potatoes, lettuce, sweetcorn & cabbage. I've put in a reasonable sized strawberry plot & am slowly but surely building up my herb garden. I have tomatoes & cucumbers in the greenhouse as well as some squash waiting to be planted out. There were a lot of well maintained existing fruit trees on the site so we inherited, 5 apple trees, loganberries, blackberries, raspberries & gooseberries as well as a good sized rhubarb plot. The plans for the next few months are to convert one of the sheds into a chicken house to house 3 layers, to start with & eventually perhaps some birds for eating (eek!). Oh & last year I attempted my first batch of cider from the apple trees, which is still sat in it's bottles & I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that it may improve!!

So, thats me, it's all a bit new, but I'm throwing myself in at the deep end & I guess I'll be needing loads of advice as the year progresses!
Jo
