My solar powered water butt pump arrived Saturday and I've connected it up to my irrigation system (formally gravity fed from a waterbutt) and it works
The guttering is directed straight into the first of 4 waterbutts which are connected with overflow pipes and i've cut out a hole in each lid so I can easily moved the pump from one W'butt to the next full one. I've also extended the water feed pipe from the pump so that it's longer and then I don't have to disconnect or reconnect any thing when moving the pump between W'Butts. I've tested it and it all works, i just have to wait for a connector which will connect the small micro feed pipe from the pump to my larger water feed pipe which is already in the PT but I've poked the micro pipe in to the other one just to test it and it was all fine.
I'm so thrilled - it will save me so much time as it took a long time to water everything. It's set to water three times a day and i've set the drippers and drip pipe for all the different veg so they get just the right amount over the course of the day.As the water comes from the tube at the top of the pump and not out the bottom of the butts I'm going to grow flowers around them to draw attention away from the solar panel. So it's not tempting to nick.
A couple of the guys down the plot looked a bit put out that I'd done it without help
