Runner Beans in pots??

Post: # 156610Post thesunflowergal »

I have never tried to grow these, and I am out of soil space now. Has anyone tried to grow them in pots? I was thinking of trying in one or two of those large plastic stacking crates. What do you think?

I got given half a packet today, after working on the community garden!!

Thanks Nikki

Grown beans in pots for years ... to show minded children how we get some food ... and they have always done well :flower:

they grow in pots beautifully, the only problem I ever had was using a rather too light pot one year and it blew over :(

our runners have been a right crap lot this year. first year we've grown them for about 7 or 8 years too, the slugs have had pretty much all of them, or the bean has been eaten or rotted before its even sprouted, and now i dont think we've got any seeds left ='[

Having been ravaged by slugs the last 2 years I decided the bio friendly slug pellets were being used this year- which has meant we have massive excess of everything!

I've got lots of self saved seed left- I can post you some if you like (might be fairly late in the day for planting them?) If you want some PM me Derry
