Well things have quietened down with the elderflower wine, so I guess that it's going to be OK. It doesn't smell of yeast any more, so fingers crossed. It's just beginning to clear so in a week or so I should be able to give it its first racking.
I must admit my wine doesn't usually see the inside of a bottle! It's usually decanted straight from the demijohn into a glass!
That tea wine does sound very interesting!

MKG posted a recipe for wine using fruit tea bags and I have made gallons and gallons of it. It is ready really quickly, always a bonus. Also his aloholic water recipe is sooooo easy! pbf.

I know, it's embarassing, but I'd only ever admit to this here!

When I told a friend the other day that I drank my wine straight from the demijohn, she immedately had warning bells going off - thought I was turning into an alcoholic...Cligereen wrote:I know, it's embarassing, but I'd only ever admit to this here!

Ina,
Perhaps they thought that the likes of you and I were swigging it straight from the demijohn! That would be a cause for concern because I find that the size of the neck on a demijohn allows far too much precious nectar to dribble down the chin and that looks just awful and shows utter lack of class!
I find it much more acceptable in polite circles to use the siphon tubing as a straw. Apart from that, constant raising of a demijohn to the lips tends, over time, to produce forearms resembling best Norfolk hams that Popeye would be proud of.
I do wish these 'do-gooders' would give us some credit
