home made solar shower
from idea is from john seymour
as its getting sunnier i though id put this on the forum
all you need is some hose and a tap on the end with some plastic bottles
hookup the hose to a outside tap and cover it with plastic bottles ( with holes in the bottoms)
the sun heats up the air in the bottles like a green house and all you do is turn on the tap for a shower
if you could hook up the hose to a water butt with a filter.. hey presto a free hot shower!

Re: home made solar shower
That's pretty cool, must give it a go.... although with 6 houses overlooking our back yard we might be giving the neighbours a bit of a treat.
I guess the principle can be used to make water for washing up too.

I use this idea to wash my hounds. The big fella stands 31'' to the shoulder & weighs 45Kg so lifting him into the bath is out of the question!
Andy, you could use the shower with trunks on. Most of you would be 'washed in sunshine' as my youngest put it, when she had her first bath from our solar panel.

I also heard the home made solar heater in China, the used beer bottle had been used as collector.
In my opinion, the manufactured solar water heater is better, which also work well in sunny winter.

I have met home made solar water by used beer bottle, it's also cool.
In my opinion, the manufactured solar water heater is better, which also can supply hot water in sunny winter.

Ah, it looks great though sunnybp and many of use don't have the money to buy a manufactured system... or perhaps just want to be ingenious.

ohh, I'd love to sound all knowing & nod & smile & say what a wonderful idea it is, but I don't get it
OK, so man in the piccy has a load of bottles, how does the water get from the bottles into the hose and how do you link so many bottles to one hosepipe??

Re: home made solar shower
That hosepipe hot water system doesn't always work too well... When I lived in France, my room only had cold water in the morning - and hot in the evening. Unfortunately, I needed the hot in the morning (when I was feeling the cold!), and would have preferred cold water for cooling off in the evening... Can't have everything.
