Re: Blight on tomatoes now.
Got rid of all the plants because the blight was spreading and I got fed up with picking off diseased leaves! Now they're on the windowsill in the hope they will ripen. The organic Gardeners Delight was a waste of money - it only had about 3 fruit worth trying to ripen as most of them didn't get pollinated and the plants (there are 2 more in pots) mostly only have one vine per truss instead of the usual 2-3 on GD. The organic peppers that I bought all have wiered mishapen fruit as well. Harumph, won't bother wasting my money on 'bio' plants any more and the pollinating insects obviously were far more interested in non-organic Premio F1 which had plenty of fruit!

Re: Blight on tomatoes now.
My toms got blight last year, the first year of growing them seriously (the year before - 2007! - I just let them do what they wanted, and they got blight), so I picked them off and put them on the windowsill. Only a tiny few showed signs of blight ,and they were chucked as soon as known about, and only a few, the very small and immature ones, didn't ripen, so good luck MMM. I was advised to leave the calyx on so as not run the risk of damaging the tomato but that advice is too late for you if you've picked them already.

I just had to google what the calyx was
but yes, no probs, I've left them as whole vines for the moment. All we need now is some sunshine!

Re: Blight on tomatoes now.
I ate it, it was rather disappointing and floury.
Oh well I can use them in cooking or grilled and they should be OK. Just had a couple of the rather tiny and wrinkled G. Delight's that came from the blighted plant, lovely flavour!
but there were only a few formed on that plant when the blight hit.
Anyway the ripening process is miles ahead on the windowsill than it is on the same (one remaining!) plant outside! That's probably cos it's been warmer indoors most of the last week than outside.
