Baby bio...

Post: # 167585Post Annpan »

Is it OK to use Baby bio to feed my indoor herbs?

I meant to ask this ages ago but keep forgetting to...

I don't think so.

I've not used baby bio for donkeys years but I remember it said something about only use for houseplants.

I don't know why though.

I believe you can get organic baby bio. I would think this would be ok?

isn't baby-bio more of an aid to photo-synthesis, rather than a feed for the plant itself?
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

No idea Pumpy... it is in a small black bottle under my kitchen sink, I use it on my houseplants when I remember but I have had the same bottle for years. It has chemical composition list on the side including levels of nitrogen and the like... (I don't have the bottle to hand just now)

Oh gosh that name is a blast from the past! Ann you need to check the NPK on it - if it is higher in K (potash) then it isn't suitable for 'green' plants like herbs that you don't want flowering. Though as far as I remember Baby Bio was something I always used for houseplants, the majority of which didn't flower anyway, so it may be more suitable for green houseplants and therefore fine for herbs.

I feed my herbs with green houseplant fertiliser, rahter than flowering houseplant fertiliser (neither of which are organic, but which I've had for ages. They take forever to get used up!).
