Ina-Its a type of mallow I think?hmm slight sweat....aarggg!! always called it a lavateria lol!mind oyu prob spelling it dreadfully!
Sort of floppy shrub,long bendy stems & nice purply flowers,pretty but took far too much room up.Lavatory Shrub lol!! well we have a privvy hedge lol!!

Hello Woodmaiden! Sounds like you will fit in here well!

Sorry about the back - I've had back problems before and it is a real bummer. My husband always turns the compost anyway because I can only manage a couple of shovel fulls before my back gives way (any old excuse really!).

Re mirrors - be careful of these in the garden because birds fly into them and get killed.

I agree with the birds & mirror thing,I would say really really hide them,you just need a small one & I would say more than half cover it with ivy or whatever you are burrowing it in,I have one at floor level -well its moved at the mo as is the whole garden

my friends lilttle girl liked to crouch by it & see if she could see faeries in it,I told her they would dance behind her if she looked into the mirror!it was hidden in a honeysuckle & kept her quiet for yonks!
Well the sun is shining here,the forecast is good & hubbys on day off YAY!!spades at the ready!!!

I am having a mini panic...a panickette....
that
1)nothing will grow
2)everything will grow but be eaten by every marauding bug,snail & slug in the neighbourhood
3)everything will grow,fend off the bugs but I wont have the time to look after it

ahhh its not just me then!! well hubby has been out there since early morning & in my trips out with cups of tea & toast inbetween feeding my babies! its starting to look scary...
that sort of *mid destruction omg what is going on*look......

Hes moved another shrubby thing & hopefully will now be able to make a couple of steps from one layer to the one where we are gonna have the veggie plots,now the shrubs gone that corner bit is steep slippy slope

so need summit!
We are trying to do it all out of *bits* laying around or things we can get off Freecycle(do you have those in Australia?Freecycle not bits lol!)
But hmmmm yes its def at that stage where it looks incomprehensible as to what we are trying to do....& hey no surprise cos thats how it feels!!

Right back to babes I dash!

In answer to your question Woody. I visited my friend in Thorncombe, sort of near Crewkerne in the middle of nowhere! Right nice place it is too.

I haven't been to Bournemouth for a few years. Used to go a lot when we lived in Hampshire as my dad worked there for a short time.

Yes Woody - I think we do... I do remember reading about it at sometime, but don't think there's a group near me. I should probably check it out again and see how it has grown, as it may be working up this way now. I am after some windows, and a door...will have to go over to a "town" (coupla hours) and raid the salvage yards for them, i thinks.

Winsham but it is in Somerset as it's the other side of the Axe river.
