i went to the plot yesterday to pick my first sprouts of the year&found them to be infested with tiny bugs. They seem to be within the first5-6 layers, leaving the center untouched.Very small, less than 1 mm dark brown or black. As i took the netting off, hundreds of tiny white moths flew out.
What are these bugs&what can i do (if anything)to get rid of them on the rest of the crop?
Cheers

Re: Bugs in my brussel sprouts
The white moths sound like brassica white fly. I've often had them on my curly cale and broccoli.
You should be able to eat the sprout, I'd say.
Don't know about the brown bugs, though.

I imagine your bugs are aphids or black fly, and the white moths are white fly. For black fly control see the current thread on aphids on broad beans! but first google some photos to check they are what you have on your brassicas.
