Yep, soak then drain and keep them wrapped in a damp towel whilst working. Should help keep them pliable.

I do lots of things with nettles. Nettle soup is my favourite but have not yet made cloth.
Then the other day I came across an article printed in the New York Times in 1916 about the process of making cloth from nettles.
